Launch of the Career Development Blog

Expanding on the mission of the Graduate Career Association, we are launching a new blog to serve as a resource all Stony Brook graduate students can share to initiate or further their career development goals. The blog will have two main types of articles:

The first will be general information articles that discuss a specific skill or career development opportunity. These will be from both primary (professionals currently in relevant career) and secondary sources (linked articles from across the web).

The second will be focused on the personal career development experiences of Stony Brook students. These will elaborate about career development opportunities around SBU, and share the success stories of alumni and current students in landing interviews, internships, or making contacts. There are countless opportunities around SBU and we want to provide a platform to share these options with others students. Our best guides for career exploration can most often be our peers.

We hope to add to the wealth of knowledge by centralizing multiple sources and perspectives, while simultaneously simplifying and enhancing career exploration for SBU graduate students. We want this blog to be a collaborative effort among the Stony Brook community and invite you to submit an entry! We want to hear from current students, alumni, and professionals of all career stripes who have advanced degrees and non-traditional career paths. Send your blog post idea or full article to Nadia (GCA blog coordinator) at nadiaj3@gmail.com.

We’re excited to start this new project and hope you’ll join us by submitting your own experiences and ideas, and following the blog for monthly updates (subscribe or follow us on Facebook!).

We look forward to hearing from you,

The GCA Team
